SensatioNail Blue Yonder Review & Foil Stamping

It's been a while since I wanted to try my hand at foil stamping. There was always a reason why to postpone it, but I finally went ahead :) I read in several places that foil works better with gel polish top coats, therefore I chose to match it with a beautiful blue gel polish base.

Há já algum tempo que queria experimentar carimbar com foil. Mas havia sempre um entrave qualquer que me fazia adiar a experiência. Mas eis que finalmente me decidi, e o ponto fulcral foi saber que foil funciona mellhor com top coat verniz gel; então combinei-os.

I'm referring to SensatioNail Blue Yonder. This is a dark, vampy shimmery blue that is so my cup of tea! *.* Surprisingly, it's also quite pigmented and covers nails in two coats. I experienced no shrinking or pooling. Blue Yonder has everything to be perfect... except it stains, bad! Below is a picture of the stain  just after removal :/ However, it isn't impossible to get back to healthy looking nails.

Refiro-me ao verniz gel SensatioNail Blue Yonder. Este é aquele tipo de azul que sempre me seduz, por mais parecidos que tenha na colecção :p É um azul profundo, algo vampy, com shimmer azul. Para minha surpresa verifiquei que o Blue Yonder é bem pigmentado e cobre as unhas com duas camadas (se bem que a primeira questionou este quesito). Também não escorreu para as cutículas. Em suma, perfeito... ou quase! Imaginem a minha cara quando tirei o verniz e vi como mancha?? Pois, algo a melhorar se bem que não é impossível corrigir isto :/

EDIT: After talking to the brand about this stain, I was informed that 1) I could have had a body reaction with the pigment of the gel polish or 2) my nails weren't hydrated before application. I'm inclined to the latest because I normally don't hydrate nails with cuticle oils and such before application (only after), so this is my mistake. Plus, I tried again with hydrated nails and guess what? NO stain! :D So girls, do moisturize your nails! :) One last thing, if some stain remains, it comes out easily using the pink side of the buffer that comes with the SensatioNail Starter Kit.

EDIÇÃO: Conversei com a marca sobre este verniz gel manchar as unhas e foi-me dito o seguinte: possivelmente a mancha deveu-se a 1) o meu organismo reagiu mal com o pigmento do verniz gel ou 2) as minhas unhas não estavam hidratadas. Pois bem, tenho a certeza que foi o segundo! Raramente hidrato as unhas antes de aplicar verniz (só depois) de modo esta aplicação não foi excepção. Decidi experimentar novamente este SensatioNail e verifiquei que NÃO manchou! :D Então chicas, hidratem bem as unhas antes de as pintar! ;) Por último, se ficar alguma mancha, esta sai facilmente com a parte rosa da lima fornecida no kit de iniciação da SensatioNail.

Unaware of the stain, I was very happy with my nail art, though it didn't turn out perfect. I was too lazy to do a stamping decal such as Eleonora demonstrated in her video tutorial, hence I quickly applied foil over my silver stamp in the nail. Not so easy as it sounds because I found out not all silver polishes work... Also, the foil didn't adhere to the entire paisley design as intended. Regardless, the silver foil finish was also quite eye catching and gorgeous, The paisley design belongs to Lesly LS-107 plate, stamped with Barry M Silver Foil Effects. I bought this silver foil from Catherine and protected it with SensatioNail Base & Top Coat. The white gel polish is Revel Nail Honor.

Apesar de não ter ficado perfeita, fiquei contente com a minha tentativa de carimbar com foil (desconhecia que por baixo as minhas unhas estavam azuis). A Eleonora fez um tutorial demonstrando esta técnica, mas como preguiçosa que sou não quis fazer o decal; então, basicamente carimbei o desenho de cornucópias nas unhas e de imediato apliquei o foil. A coisa não correu lá muito bem porque 1) descobri que nem todos os vernizes prata funcionam e 2) o foil não aderiu ao desenho no seu total. Mas ficou bastante chamativo e engraçado, de modo que gostei mesmo sabendo que há por onde melhorar :) O desenho  pertence à placa Lesly LS-107 e foi carimbado com o verniz Barry M Silver Foil Effects. O foil, por sua vez, comprei no stand da Catherine na In Beauty, sendo que o protegi com o top coat SensatioNails Base & Top Coat. O verniz gel branco é o Revel Nail Honor.

Overall, I was very pleased with both the blue color and the nail art... But the stain scares me. Do you own this gel polish? Did it stain your nails too? Have you tried foil stamping? Kisses,

Sensationail Pink Chiffon Gel Polish Review & Breast Cancer Awareness Nail Art

Earlier this week I posted the first part review of the Sensationail Starter Kit. The Starter Kit gel polish color that I chose was Sensationail Pink Chiffon. Like I mentioned, I want to redeem myself of not yet doing a breast cancer awareness manicure. Therefore, the one you will see today will last for two weeks! :)

No início desta semana publiquei a primeira parte da minha review do Kit de Iniciação de verniz gel Sensationail. A cor do kit que escolhi é o Pink Chiffon e como mencionei anteriormente, fiz com ele uma nail art de consciencialização do cancro da mama como forma de me redimir pelo facto de ainda não ter feito nada (estou a usar esta nail art por duas semanas!) :)

Lets talk about Sensationail Pink Chiffon gel polish, which I applied just like proposed by the brand. At first, I found the brush to be very small but soon changed my opinion. Its round and soft, allowing a controlled application near the cuticles (particularly in pinky). I like it, although I prefer flat brushes. Formula wise, Pink Chiffon is a sheer milky pink; I experienced no pooling or shrinkage. In the index & middle fingers I applied four thin coats of Pink Chiffon; in the ring finger & pinky three coats. Clearly four coats is the best for full nail coverage since you can see some bald spots on pinky & ring finger. However, this didn't trouble me because I knew I was going to do some nail art afterwards. I finished with a coat of Sensationail Base & Top Coat and noticed the beautiful shine it provided! So far it is lasting, but that's a subject for another post! ;) I'm moving to a knew place at the end of this month (yey!) and because of that, I applied a coat of acrygel underneath Pink Chiffon; this is the reason why the gel polish looks thick! In my right hand I didn't apply acrygel therefore I can see it isn't thick at all! :)

Vamos conversar sobre o Sensationail Pink Chiffon :) Apliquei-o seguindo os passos recomendados pela marca, indicados no primeiro post. O pincel é pequeno e redondo e por isso pensei que não ia gostar... mas rapidamente mudei de ideias porque permite controlar bem a aplicação do verniz gel junto das cutículas. Tenho preferência por pincéis achatados, mas gostei deste. A nível de formula, esta é pouco pigmentada e tem aquele acabamento rosa cremoso leitoso. Não verifiquei encolhimento nem escorrimento para as cutículas do verniz gel Pink Chiffon, mas a verdade é que tudo isto é evitável se aplicarem camadas fininhas. Apliquei três camadas nos dedos mindinho e anelar, e quatro camadas nos dedos indicador e meio. É claramente notório que quatro camadas é o ideal para cobrir uniformemente a unha pois pode-se verificar pontos "carecas" nas duas unhas com três camadas. Mas isto não me incomodou porque sabia que ia posteriormente fazer uma nail art. Pelas fotos parece que o Sensationail Pink Chiffon fica espesso nas unhas, mas não se deixem enganar! A verdade é que como vou mudar de casa até ao fim do mês, não quis correr riscos e apliquei uma camada de acrygel nesta mão para proteger as unhas; já a mão direita tem só o verniz Pink Chiffon :p

About the breast cancer awareness manicure, I just knew I wanted to incorporate a bow in it somehow! I have these huge recently bought bows... but I was too scared I'd loose one whilst moving card boxes around hehe :p So, rhinestones bow it is! I picked two different sized silver rhinestones plus small silver beads and placed them carefully over a teeny drop of gel top coat. I love the outcome! Then, of course I had to use the breast cancer design from Bundle Monster BM321 plate! :) Stamped in white with Dashica White polish. Finally, I draw some silver hearts and then used acrylic foil on top of it. This was my first foil experience and I can't wait to play more with it! :D (used Catherine foil and foil glue). I finished everything with a coat of Sensationail Gel Base & Top Coat.

Sabia que ia de alguma forma incorporar um laço na manicure de consciencialização do cancro da mama. Comprei recentemente uns laços enormes super giros... mas fiquei com medo de perder algum enquanto movesse caixas de um lado e outro, por isso decidi criá-lo com rhinestones! :p Seleccionei dois tamanhos de strass prata e esferas de nail art prata (qual o nome disto em português gente?). Coloquei cada peça uma a uma, sobre uma gota pequena de top coat gel e depois curei na lâmpada LED para selar as peças no seu lugar. No dedo do meio carimbei o símbolo do cancro da mama da placa Bundle Monster BM321, que não podia deixar de usar! Já no dedo indicador, realizei a experiência de brincar com foil pela primeira vez. Desenhei vários corações prata e depois apliquei o foil prata da Catherine, utilizando a cola para foil também da Catherine. Adorei, mal posso esperar para brincar mais com isto! :p Finalmente terminei tudo com uma camada do Sensationail Base & Top Coat :)

Roby Nails Green Diamond Review & Half Moon Nail Art

Today I bring you my review of Roby Nails Green Diamond* from the Nail Dress collection. This is the last polish I have from this Italian brand and it sort of reminds me of Christmas :)

Hoje trago-vos a review do verniz Roby Nails Green Diamond* da colecção Nail Dress :) É o último verniz que tenho para vos mostrar desta marca Italiana e de certo modo, lembra-me a época Natalícia :p

Green Diamond has a dark green shade and dries to a nearly foil finish. The silver metallic particles are very evident and give a dazzling shine. I don't find it as pigmented as Roby Nails Vanity Lilac from the same collection, but it covers nails in two coats and is easy to apply. The brush is flat and smooth. Due to the formula, there are a few visible brushstrokes after Green Diamon dries...

O verniz Roby Nails Green Diamond tem um tom verde escuro e seca com acabamento quase foil. O brilho é ofuscante devido às partículas metálicas. Não o achei tão pigmentado como o verniz Roby Nails Vanity Lilac da mesma colecção, mas cobre as unhas com duas camadas. É fácil de aplicar devido ao pincel suave e achatado, mas depois de seco ficam marcas do pincel que não gostei por aí além...

... that is why I mattified everything and love it best this way! :) Possibly in Christmas I'll wear it with its glory. About the half moons nail art, I applied a white base and stamped the image from Marianne Nails 50 plate with Dashica Black polish.

... e foi por isso que matifiquei tudo com o verniz OPI Matte Top Coat. Prefiro esta versão, se bem que acredito que vou usar o verniz Green Diamond na sua versão original no Natal :) Relativamente à nail art de meia lua, pintei de branco e depois carimbei o desenho da placa Marianne Nails 50 com o verniz Dashica Blask.

A England Excalibur & DNA Italy Sunset

A couple of weeks ago I was feeling out of inspiration for nails, so I asked my man to pick a color randomly. Lucky me, he picked the orange DNA Italy Sunset! lol I'm not an orange lover but I kept this polish because it was a gift from Vivi and I secretly think she knew I would love it! lol Then I decided to combine it with A England Excalibur, which I got from Adri! Nice way to combine two friends, wouldn't you agree? hahahah :D

Há umas semanas atrás estava pouco inspirada e pedi ao meu love para escolher um verniz ao acaso. Ora, de todos escolheu o único laranja em fila de espera! lool. Não sou grande fã de laranja, mas este além de ser uma prenda da Vivi, tem qualquer coisa que me atrai (como é que adivinhaste Vivi?) :) Decidi combiná-lo com o A England Excalibur que chegou-me por intermédio da Adri! Nada como combinar presentes de amigas, certo?? :D

After painting my nails with two coats of DNA Italy Sunset and being pleasently surprised by the nice formula and rich golden shimmer (after all, I used it before DNA Italy Natale), I had no idea about what to do. That was when the new version of A England Excalibur got in ;) Excalibur is a polish I wanted for quite some time because it's gorgeous! Super sparkly and besides the silver foil, it contains silver specks. I love it! My single complaint is that A England Excalibur isn't as pigmented as my other A England polishes, but covers in two/three coats ;) On another hand, foil polishes tend to be sheer.

Depois de pintar as unhas com duas camadas do verniz DNA Italy Sunset (e ficar agradavelmente surpreendida com a formula - afinal foi o primeiro da minha vida, antes mesmo do DNA Italy Natale - e rico shimmer dourado), não sabia o que fazer com este laranja! Vai daí que veio o galante A England Excalibur em meu socorro! E que formoso que é! É um verniz com acabamento foil prata que lá pelo meio tem pedacinhos dourados. Difícil de explicar e super ofuscante! :) Infelizmente não é tão pigmentado como os meus outros vernizes da marca, mas por outro lado, vernizes foil tradicionalmente não o são.

The nail art is a leopard print (really??) that I freehanded with a thin brush after making a light gradient of Excalibur on the tips of Sunset. This is the first time I painted a leopard print! I feel proud! lool What do you guys think? See you soon,

A nail art é um padrão leopardo (a sério?!) desenhado com um pincel fininho. Mas antes apliquei ao de leve o verniz Excalibur nas pontas do Sunset. Foi a primeira vez que desenhei um padrão leopardo... nada mal, pois não?? lool O que acharam? Beijinhos e até breve,
